Judge to let suit against Blue Cross proceed
Detroit A federal judge said today she is letting a civil lawsuit by the U.S. Justice Department and state Attorney General's Office proceed against Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, alleging the insurer's use of certain hospital contracts stifles competition and drives up costs for consumers.

Blue Cross seeks dismissal of Pontiac lawsuit over contracts
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan said it filed a motion today in federal court to dismiss a lawsuit filed against it and other hospitals by the City of Pontiac, alleging the nonprofit insurer's use of certain clauses in hospital contracts stifles competition and drives up insurance rates for consumers.

Blue Cross Blue Shield to expand Medicaid program
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is beginning to carry out a plan to expand its Medicaid product line, which has been small compared with the health insurer's overall 70 percent market share in the state.
