WASHINGTON ( Map ) - According to new data released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the 2008 average beneficiary premium for standard Part D coverage is roughly $25 , a figure far lower than the $41 figure that was originally estimated in 2003.

WASHINGTON, D.C. Medicare monthly premiums increase next year. Authorities say the average premium for basic coverage increases from about $22 this year, to $25 next year. About 24-million elderly and disabled people are enrolled in the drug benefit program.
