The federal government no longer can turn its back on low-income Medicare beneficiaries. A settlement has been reached between the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and plaintiffs in a class-action lawsuit on behalf of Medicare beneficiaries who also qualify for Medicaid, known as dual eligibles.
